Charles R. Koerner

Military

1st Lt Koerner flew with the 404th Fighter Group of the 9th Air Force. He flew 86 missions over France, Belgium and Germany. Most, even on D-Day, involved in ground attacks against German armored, mechanized, and infantry forces in his P-47D Thunderbolt. 42-25748 He was transferred from the 508th Fighter Squadron into the 507th Fighter Squadron on 6 September 1944.
Born and raised in Brownsville, PA
Passed away Jul 16, 2015 at his home in Fairfield Harbour, New Bern, North Carolina
