Doreen married Claude 'Doc' Ballard in the spring of 1944. She moved to Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Doc's home town.
Doc Ballard died in October 1960. Doreen stayed in the United States and currently lives in Las Vegas with her daughter. She is still in touch with Audrey, her friend from Saffron Walden.
