Lieutenant Helen Pierson was an army nurse based at the 163rd General Hospital at Wimpole Hall. She later married Major John D Davis, Commanding Officer of the 401st Bomb Squadron at Bassingbourn, and had a B-17 Flying Fortress of the 91st Bomb Group named in her honour: "Lady Helen of Wimpole".
