On March 22, 1945, while piloting B-26 tail #42-107785 of the 320th Bomb Group (M), 442nd Bomb Squadron (M), he and his crew were downed over Eppelheim, Germany. Their target was the railroad viaduct at Heidelburg.

He is buried at the US Military Cemetery at Neuville-en-Condroz, Belgium.
