Basil Floyd Hackleman USAAF, 8th Air Force, 91st Bomb Group, 323rd B Squadron, Bassingbourn, England. 30 Missions Basil was one of the pilots who flew the original 8th Air Force, 91st Bomb Group's B-17 "Nine-O-Nine" on 11 of his missions. (A restored B-17 painted with the Nine-O-Nine paint configuration is still flown by The Collings Foundation. According to one source: "The original Nine O Nine, serial number 42-31909, flew 140 combat missions from March 1944 to April 1945 without a crew fatality or injury.") Basil drove to the WW II Big Bomber Weekend in Blaine, Minnesota and gave a video recorded symposium presentation about his flying career on July 19, 2013, with a follow-up symposium with Jerry Whiting, Historian and Author, and a video interview with Kevin Callahan, 8th AFHS-Mn on July 20, 2013.
