Military
Flying Fortress B-17G 42-102700 "I'll Get By" 412th BS, 95th BG, 8AF USAAF. Photo includes; Oscar Walrod, Frank Sohm, Donald Phillips, Barney Lipkin, Jasper Kaylor, Robert Hill, Raymond Dallas, Walter Collyer, Elmer Bockman, and Robert Baber.
Flew in B-17F "Miss Carry" and B-17G "I'll Get By".
He wrote a poem which is displayed at St Mary's, Horham:
There is no stone to mark the place
they flew and fought and died that day.
Nay! Nothing but smoke that
lowly drifts away.
Yet, there is a monument to those
valiant young men,
This the grateful thanks that lives in
the hearts of freedom loving men.
