William Winneshiek was a Pilot and one of the original members of 333rd BS, 94th BG. 43 x combat misions. He flew a second combat tour after serving for 18 months as Director of Operations in the Combat Crew Training School in Ireland and was then Operations Officer 333BS flying as Command Pilot.



4-Oct-43 crash landed on Kent coast in B17 42-3082 'Double Trouble'. Crew returned with S/Sgt Vance W. Van Hooser wounded.



His death on 1st February 1995 after a 10 year battle with cancer was reported by his widow Betti.



Awards: DFC (2OLC), AM (6OLC), WWII Victory, EAME (2 x battle stars).
