William Robert Stroh
MilitaryShot down 27 May 1944 in B-17 #42-31975 'Queen Of the Air', Evaded (EVD) Made his way to Switzerland and back to UK on 29 Sep 1944, as he put it, "one step ahead of the Gestapo" after being assisted by citizens in France. He and Dwight E. Suddock were the only two crewmen who parachuted out and survived; they both lived for many years after the war. Bill died in Barberton, Ohio on 14 Apr 1991.
