Took part in Operation Tidal Wave, the raid on Ploesti on 1 August 1943, flying B-24 Liberator 41-24235.



While on TDY to 9th AF October 1, 1943, on a mission to Weiner Neustadt, 42-72853 'Count Bruga' was attacked by several fighters and crashed in the target area. . Quoted by Lundy, he was met by angry civilians with dogs and handed over to German soldiers. He believes pilot Henderson stayed aboard in an attempt to keep the plane under control. Prisoner of War (POW).
