Assigned to 338FS, 55FG, 8AF USAAF. Bill McGill's first P-51, 44-13743, was damaged in a taxying accident on 13-Apr-45 when P-51 43-6928 taxied into the back of it chewing off the tail, McGill was uninjured, RTD. His replacement P-51, 44-72814, suffered a similar accident on 1-May-45, this time it was fatal for McGill. Killed in Action (KIA)
