MilitaryAdded unit connections
He flew on Robert Brown crew. Reported to group on 17 Jul 1944. POW Crew bailed out near Wolfach on 9 Dec 44 from B-17 'Sleepy Time Gal' #43-38362, this was his 35th mission. Flak hit #4 engine and could not feather. Dove to 22,000 ft and when the fire began to burn over the wing, Pilot Brown gave the bail out orders. He tried to open nose hatch and it wouldn't move. Got back in seat and opened doors. Engineer helped Giglio out of the plane because he was hit in right knee by flak, with metal proceeding into his thigh. German doctors worked on it for a week, and then decided to amputate as he continued to run a high fever. Aircraft continued unmanned and crashed about 60 km away near Fouchy, France.
