While on temporary assignment to North Africa, on bombing run on port at Bizerte , Pilot Roche moved in for an extra, more exact run on the target. 'Ambrose II' B-24D-10-CO 41-23909 suffered hit to gas line. Roche and the crew made a dead stick landing (previously thought impossible for a bomber).
