Assigned to 34BG, 8AF USAAF. Transferred to 361FS, 356FG, 8AF USAAF. On a training flight Lt Baskin was engaged in simulated combat with another P51D aircraft. He was observed to slice off a wing and fall into a flat spin. He did approximately seven turns and hit in the mud flats of the Orwell River Suffolk, England, approximately 2 miles W. of Trimley St. Mary, Suffolk. The cockpit of his plane burst into flames after it crashed. 13-Feb-45. Killed in flying accident (KIFA).
