Military ROLL OF HONOUR

On 18 November 1942 while serving as the pilot of B-17F #41-24499 'Fury' the bombs could not be released on the U-Boat pens at La Pallice, France, so were jettisoned upon return in an open field. 10 miles SW of Exeter, the aircraft collided with #41-24553 'Mizpah' which was able to land safely. However, #41-24499 landed at RAF Turweston and was salvaged.

Shot down 23 November 1942 in B-17 #41-24479 'Sad Sack' while serving as pilot. The aircraft crashed into the English Channel, no traces of the aircraft or crew were ever found.
