Killed in Action (KIA) 26-Feb-43 in B-17F 41-24623, 305BG/365BS while serving as Bombardier. The aircraft was hit by AA fire over the target of Wilhelmshaven, Germany and was then shot down by German fighters. The aircraft crashed into the Jadebusen (Jade Bight) just east of the target. His remains washed up later and he was buried by the Germans, but the location has not been determined.
