Tychowo, Poland Stalag Luft IV T/Sgt Thomas "TJ" McQueen survived the forced march to Czechoslovakia in the late winter of 1945 when the Germans evacuated Stalag Luft IV ahead of the Russian advance. Upon his liberation, he was diagnosed with Tuberculosis and had to stay an additional year in a TB sanitarium. He eventually returned to his home in Birmingham, AL.
