He gave his time and service to many organizations including the Holy Name Society and the Knights of Columbus. He was a 40 year member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union 189. Tom enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force in WWII. He served as a B-24 navigator with the 466th Bombardment Group in the 96th Combat Wing. Tom flew numerous missions over Europe as a First Lieutenant, earning the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with Three Oak Leaf Clusters, and a Certificate of Valor.
