near Wiesbaden, Germany | 17 February 1945 | REMARKS OR EYEWITNESS STATEMENT: The a/c received a direct flak hit in the left wing and probably in therear part of the waist. The left wing caught fire then blew up. Thea/c went into a tight spin. The tail section floated earthward. Onecrew reports seeing 3 chutes possibly from this a/c. A German report of the crash states that they had 7 bodies and presumably3 others had escaped. |
