WOINOWSK, Lieutenant/COL, USAF, RET. Entered Bombardier Instructor's School on Oct 19, 1940 (Class 41-3) Lowry AFB, graduating in March 1941. Home of record was San Antonio, Texas. He also served in the Texas National Guard, Marine Reserves and pilot training. Commissioned a second lieutenant at Barksdale AFB June 25, 1941. After graduation and until 1943, he helped establish Bombardier schools at Barksdale, Ellington, Midland, and Big Springs, using both the Norden and Sperry bombsights. World War II combat was in B-24s, Group Bombardier, 466th Bomb Gp. , 8th Air Force, England. He was the Bombardier member of the Combined Bombardier/Navigator Radar Operator Team that designed the 1037 course for Mathers AFB. He flew 15 missions on a tour in Korea in B-29s, Wing Navigator, 92nd Bomb Wing SAC. Attended the first class of the Senior Observers Tech Specialist Course at Mather AFB. Later served in the Air Training Command, Turkey, HQ 13th Air Force, Philippines, and 40th Air Division, SAC. Retired in June, 1963.
