Roylance Arthur Henwick
MilitaryCaptain Roylance A Henwick (later Major) DFC, was a South African Pilot who survived a crash in a Martin Maryland bomber in December 1941. He later moved on detached service to the USAAF 334th Fighter Squadron 4th Fighter Group, flying P-51Dās from Debden.
Whilst on bomber escort duties in Sept 1944 he crash landed at Casteljaloux near Bordeaux, by then friendly territory and was transported back to England to re-join his unit.
Now a Major, he later transferred to 80 Squadron flying Tempests and later became the Squadron Commanding Officer.
