Killed when Pappy’s Chillun, B-24H #42-29418, crashed during assembly. ”It was the opinion of the investigating board that the airplane picked up too much ice, was forced into a stall, and from there into a spin, when it fell apart.” (44thbombgroup.com) The main body of the aircraft still lies in the lake at Taverham Mill. On 21 April 2001, 57 years after the crash, a memorial was dedicated on the property.
