Prisoner of War (POW) Crashed at Sarstedt on 11/26/44 in B-24 #f4410485 Dorty Treek.

It was on his 19th mission -to Misburg in Germany- that they were shot down. He landed in a farmer's field and then marched through a small village where he received some 'kicks and shoves' but was protected by the guards. He eventually landed up in a Stalag near Nurnberg then force-marched to Mooseburg as the Russians advanced. On April 29th 1945 they were released by General Patton. Robert made his own way through France and by early June was en route to the USA. He stayed in the service for another three years during which time he married Rosemary. He later worked as a draughtsman and highway engineer.
