MilitaryPrisoner of War (POW). Pilot of P-47D #42-8383 353FG/352FS on 31-Aug-43 when the aircraft was involved in a mid-air collision with P-47D 42-7999 353FG/352FS at 30,000 feet nine miles North of Amiens, France while on a mission to escort a formation of B-17 bombers attacking the German airfield at Amiens/Glisy, France. He was able to bale out of the aircraft but was captured as a Prisoner of War (POW) MACR 475.
