Shot down 14 October 1943 returning from Schweinfurt, Germany, in B-17 #4230040 'Wabbit-Twacks III. ' Was with French underground 7 mo. Captured on Spanish border. Held by Gestapo 3 mo. in France at Toulouse Prison and Freshes Prison in Paris. Was a Prisoner of War (POW) until liberated by British 2nd Army on 2 May 1945 after walking 8 hundred miles across north Germany.
