Shot down 8 April 1944 in B-24 #4129422 'Rebel Yell.' Matheson was the last of the crew to parachute to safety after being pushed out of the B-24 by Lieutenant Richard C Monroe, who is believed to have gone down with the plane.



Matheson was captured and made a Prisoner of War (POW) at Stalag Luft I.
