Strafed first a barge and then a train on return journey and took flak hit to oil system, A/C abandoned when oil pressure zeroed out. Prisoner of War (POW). 30-May-44. MACR 5199. Escaped captivity twice, but recaptured.
Awards: DFC, AM (3OLC), POW, WWII Victory, EAME.
Post war: Remained in USAF until April 1972, retired with rank of Colonel.
