Salvage non battle damage at Snetter Heath landing accident on 20 May 1944. On return in poor visibility, skidded and nosed up in soft ground with on falling back it buckled the fuselage and tail. Navigator (Sam Fudge) and Bombardier (Harry Hodgson) were ejected from plane. All 10 crew returned to duty without injury.
Ray Estle was killed during Frantic 2.
Injured on the ground, June 21 during German raid of Poltava Airbase.
Had leg amputated June 22 and died of gangrene July 2.
His Co-pilot F/O Joe Lukacak was killed June 21 when they both hid behind a wall together.
