14 October 1944 | A/C 43-38108, piloted by Lt Gordon Gustafson, was hit by flak after dropping bombs over Cologne, Germany. The aircraft then collided with Sgt Carroll's plane, A/C 4338066, which was piloted by Richard Nichols. A/C #066 was chewed up completely, props cutting through radio room. Both A/C went down, 066 broken into two pieces. All men in both planes were KIA. |
