Shot Down/WIA

Brunswick, Germany Was shot in the right hand while manning a waist gun position. He lost consciousness due to a loss of blood. Sgt Whaley attached Carroll's parachute, held the D ring and threw him out of the waist window. Carroll regained consciousness just before landing.
