Assigned to 359th FG, and 369th FS Dec. 19, 1944 -Sept., 1945, flying 31 missions. Promoted to 1st Lt. Apr.30,1945. Promoted to Captain in Occupational Army, in Germany, Sept., 1945 to end of tour. While in the reserves, Bert graduated from college and law school. Was eventually assigned to the JAG, as legal counsel, at Seymour Johnson AFB. Received The Air Force Commendation Medal, for meritorious service, in 1974, and retired as Colonel, 1977.
