Pilot of the "Rose of York" and was present when Queen Elizabeth [she was Princess Elizabeth at the time] visited Thurleigh on 6 July 1944. The 'Rose of York' was named after Princess Elizabeth, which is the reason the Royal Family was present for the christening ceremony. He retired in October 1982.
