Co Pilot - Crashed into hillside due to poor visibility near Eastbourne, whilst trying to land at Friston ELG on return from mission to Watten, France on 2 Feb 44 in B-24 41-24282 'Ruth-less'. Initially survived the crash and slid down embankment away from burning A/C only to be crushed to death by one of the engines from the wrecked A/C when it broke away from the wreck. Killed in Action (KIA). MACR 6385.
