Grand Forks, ND, USA 4 November 2003 Myron Obe Weekley, 83 of Grand Forks, North Dakota, died at the Valley Memorial Eldercare Center, Grand Forks, North Dakota, on November 4, 2003. Myron Weekley was born April 4, 1920 in East Grand Forks, Minnesota, the son of Frederick and Effie (Sliter) Weekley. He grew up and went to school in East Grand Forks, finishing the 8th grade. He worked in Long Beach, California at Douglas Aircraft as an instructor, before joining the United States Air Force on December 7, 1942. He took his training in Santa Ana, California, Visalia, California, and Colorado Springs, Colorado. On December 5, 1943, he was sent over seas and spent 8 1/2 months stationed in England, flying a B-24 Bomber for 35 missions in air offensive Europe, Normandy, Northern France, and Rhineland. He received the distinguished flying cross, air medal with 3 oak leaf clusters, European African, Middle Eastern Service Medal and 4 Bronze Stars. He served in the Air Force Reserves, retiring as a Major. He worked in Long Beach, California after returning home. He Married Betty Jo Amen in North Platte, Nebraska, on September 1, 1946. They moved to Grand Forks, North Dakota, where they started Weekley Auto Wrecking in 1950. Myron "The Wrecker" Weekley stated "We can't eat these parts, we have to sell them". He was the first recycler in Grand Forks. He was still involved with Weekley Auto Parts until the time of his death. He is survived by his wife Betty Jo, Daughter Cindy Rae (Russell) Heuver of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, Sons, Gregory Scott (Judy), Grand Forks, North Dakota and Larry Dean (Nita) of Emerado, North Dakota. Seven grandchildren and 2 great grandsons. Myron was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Hattie, Edith, Lily Weekley, Laurella Bucholz, six brothers, Sanford, Leland, Russell, Bert, Charles and Donald, one grandson, Shale Weekley.
