NARA files verified DFC w/1 oak leaf cluster, AM w/3 oak leaf clusters and PH. His second DFC was awarded for the Operation Tidal Wave (OTW) mission. Sgt Workman was wounded on the OTW mission according to the 93rd Bomb Group Sortie Report.

Of note, there are only two entries in the NARA database for Matthew Workman. Neither has a middle initial. Only one Mathew R. Workman is listed in the NARA database and he was not a flier.
