Radio operator, Lishon crew. 381st BG, 534th BS. Shot down 8 October 1943 in B-17 #42-30772 'Bobby T'. Mission #36 to the shipyards at Bremen, Germany. MACR 1398. The crew was together in captivity on a train to Frankfurt and then were separated. Prisoner of War at Stalag Luft XVIIB.
S/Sgt Riddle was credited with 1 German fighter destroyed and 1 damaged on the 17 August 1943 Schweinfurt mission.
My father, Lloyd G. Riddle, was a WWII Prisoner of War (POW) in Stalag 17B. He was a member of the B17 'Whale's Tail' bomber where he was a gunner and radio operator. His plane was shot down over Bremen Germany on October 8, 1943. While a Prisoner of War (POW), he was a member of the Barbed Wire Mountaineers where he played the bass (info from internet).
