1st Lieutenant Leroy Hyder was born February 16, 1924. His next of kin were his mother, Velma Hyder, and his brother, Charles Hyder. His hometown was Knoxville, Tennessee.
On September 11, 1944, he was the pilot of B-17 tail 42-102471 of the 447th Bomb Group, 710th Bomb Squadron, when it went down over Lucka, Germany. His entire crew survived the crash except him.
He is buried in the Spring City Cemetery in Spring City, Tennessee.
