Assigned to 340BS, 97BG, 8AF USAAF. Failed To Return (FTR) navigation exercise to Burtonwood in B-17 41-9098. Weather was poor, almost certainly the red warning flares on North Wales border were missed by the crew, and so while continuing on their heading they crashed on the eastern side of Cadair Bronwen in the Berwyn Mountain range in North Wales. 11-Aug-42. Died Non Battle (DNB)
