Lawrence C Lovos
MilitaryOn 26-Feb-43 he was serving as the Right Waist Gunner on B-17F 41-24623, 305BG/365BS when the aircraft sustained damage from AA fire over the target at Wilhelmshaven, Germany. He was able to bail out before the aircraft was attacked by German fighters and shot down into the Jadebused (Jade Bight) just east of Wilhelmshaven, Germany and taken prisoner. According to Brotherhood, he and crewman William Jones were in the 422nd, but flew on the 365th mission on February 26, 1943. He successfully parachuted before the crash and became a Prisoner of War (POW) in Stalag 17B at Braunau-Gneikendorf (near Krems), Austria.
