Assigned to 787BS, 466BG, 8AF USAAF. 30 x combat missions. In one heroic episode, he saved his plane and crew when some bomb releases jammed and live bombs were rolling around in the plane. With the help of another crewmember, he walked onto the catwalk and lifted each bomb by hand and dropped them manually out the bombay at 16,000 feet.
