Pilot Spitfire/P-47 Thunderbolt Joined RAF, assigned to 133 Sqn RAF, 42 to 10/42. transferred to 336th FS, 4th FG, 8th AF. Shot down in P-47 #42-7949 during show escorting B-17’s to Paris area, 16-8-43. Not seen to go down, crashed near St. Denis. Evaded capture for a fortnight before meeting up with the Resistance who got him over the Pyrenees and into Spain. Returned to Debden in the Fall, Oct. 1943.
