B-17G #42-31227 'Dottie Jane' was hit by flak on a mission to Klein Machnow, Berlin on 6 Mar 1944 but was able to return to base. RTDSaved his B-17 on March 6, 1944 when hit by antiaircraft fire that blew radio man out of plane plus wounding three gunners. Flew plane back to base with all controls gone and saved rest of crew.
