MilitaryFlew 17 missions on B-17 'Stump Jumper' then grounded because he developed altitude sickness. He was busted to private because of infrations. Trained as parachutist and was dropped behind the lines into France on D-Day in a joint effort with the RAF. Target was Caen. Was awarded tje bronze star and silver star for the jump.
