Arthur L Priem
MilitaryCrew Number 85
He particularly recalled the mission to Berlin March 6 1944 when they were hit by ME109s and FW 190's over the Dutch border. They made it to the target but were again heavily attacked on the way home, hit by flak and set on fire. They put the fire out but the life rafts had been blown away, the radio room destroyed and landing gear controls shot out. The plane made it back to base -to be met by fire truck and ambulance- and the pilots managed to land on the perimeter track.
