John R Tillman

Military ROLL OF HONOUR

Killed in Action (KIA) 18 August 1944 in AC #4275549. On the operational mission of 18 August 1944 Lt. Tillman helped to engage 12 F. W. 190's in the Beaurais France area. His flight leader saw a P. 47 hit by a F. W. 190 and last saw it at 3000 ft. in about a 90' dive, apparently under control. The 1128'C' engineer group 467 Eng. Maintenance Co. forwarded through H. Q. 1X Tactical Command letter that French civilians certified that a P. 47 aircraft identified by AAF No. to be the same that Lt. Tillman was flying crashed at co-ordinate S. 090950. Pilot was killed and wore bracelet inscribed John R. Tillman 0-700852. Status: Missing in Action (MIA) 18 August 1944Changed to Killed in Action (KIA) 27 September 1944
