Post war: Remained in USAF serving in Korea, rising to the rank of Major.

Goxhill, Barrow-upon-Humber DN19, UK 14 May 1944 aircraft was airborne from Goxhill on a cine-gun and instrument flying training sortie. On return to base the pilot, 2Lt Bowen approached starboard wing low, causing the right undercarriage mainleg to strike the runway with some force, breaking it. After going around for another approach 2Lt Bowen was unable to raise or lower the undercarriage even by using the emergency sytems. At this point the starboard engine's oil pressure dropped and 2Lt Bowen made a landing with the undercarriage up. 2Lt Bowen was unhurt and the aircraft sustained repairable Cat 3 damage.
