James W Hofstetter
MilitaryMy father, James W Hofstetter was from Nashville, Tennessee. He was drafted, entered active service in the USAAF on January 29, 1942 at Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia and assigned to Headquarters Co. of the 305 Bombardment Co., 8th USAAF in Chelveston, England where he served as an Intelligence Specialist. He and some or all of the members of his company had their picture taken in front of the B-17 "We The People" (41-24614) in June 1944 before it was flown back to the States. Dad was separated from the 305th on October 13, 1945 returned to Nashville, Tennessee. Prior to his death in 2008, he was a member of the 305th Bomb Group Memorial Association and returned to Chelveston on one or two occasions with the association.
