Born and raised in Paterson, Pennsylvania, Arnold Ostrow attended School No. 13 there, then the Eastside High School and had three years of college at Paterson State Teacher’s College. Employed in a Government office in Washington, he enlisted in the Air Corps in June 1942. He followed training at the Gulf Coast Training Center in Hondo, Texas and received his Navigator’s wings and a commission as a 2nd Lieutenant. Sent to Moses Lake, Washington, he joined up as a member of Lt William Quaintance’s crew in the 306th Bomb Group / 369th Bomb Squadron. The crew was sent overseas to England in October 1943. Arnold was Killed In Action in the loss of B-17 #42-31695 on 22 February 1944.
