On 3 Feb 1944 on return from support mission to Wilhelmshaven, P-47D 42-7938 crashed near Bulcamp, Suffolk due to low fuel. RTD.

Prisoner of War (POW). Liberated 13 May 1945. Assisted by French underground until captured. A/C destroyed (from WD AGO Form 66). 6 FW-190s, 1 ME-109, and 2 FW-190s damaged.
