Staff Sergeant James Scollon was born June 24, 1909. His next of kin were his parents, James and Isabel Scollon, a sister, Jean Scollon, and a brother, George Scollon. He was from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

On July 14, 1943, he was serving as a Gunner aboard “Widget,” B-17 tail #42-30011 of the 381st Bomb Group, 535th Bomb Squadron, when it went down over Bois-Jean, France.

He is buried in Arlington National Cemetery, in Arlington, Virginia.
