Shot down 7 January 1944 in B-24H #42-40990 'On the Ball. ' Evaded. Attacked by fighters on return from Ludwigshaven, GR setting No 2 and No 3 engines and the bomb bay on fire. The a/c exploded and crashed near Chateaudun, FR.
